It all started back in 1947 where people in the Lakeside District wanted to create a place for Sunday School. They soon created the Lakeside Sunday School Association. That would eventually spawn interest in starting up a church in the area. A non-denominational church called Lakeside Community Church was officially organized in 1952.
The old Guernsey Hall, which was used for local community events, was purchased in 1954 and moved to the present site at 10th and Kent Avenues. It was completely refurbished inside and out for the present sanctuary of Lakeside Community Church.
In 1966 an extension of classrooms were built on the northwest side of the church campus. Later, in 1980, more classrooms and facilities were added on the north side of the property.
The original building that was used since the church’s inception where members would meet for Sunday School was replaced by a newer facility in 1986. It is currently named the Social Hall, which is used for many purposes such as Bible studies, Children’s Church, Bible Fellowship Groups, prayer meetings, Youth Ministry gatherings, potlucks, receptions, and other miscellaneous ministry opportunities.
Lakeside Community Church has grown to be a family-oriented, friendly church. Its members don’t mind driving a few miles south of Hanford so that they can participate in such a rich, genuine fellowship where people are encouraged to “come as you are”. Lakeside members come from Hanford, Armona, and Lemoore to be a part of this growing and caring body.
